There is something extra special about coming to kindy in your pyjamas. Comfy clothes, cosy patterns, and lots of excited little smiles always make for a fun day.
This year, our Pyjama Day on Friday 24th July is about much more than wearing our favourite PJs – it is also about coming together to support children living in foster care.
Throughout the day, children and educators will wear their pyjamas proudly, helping raise awareness and funds for The Pyjama Foundation. This wonderful organisation supports children living in foster care by providing learning support, life skills, mentoring, and encouragement to help them build confidence and reach their dreams.
Helping Children Through the Gift of Learning
The Pyjama Foundation’s work is all about showing children that they are supported, valued, and believed in. Through their mentoring programs, children in out-of-home care are given opportunities to read, learn, connect, and grow with the help of caring adults who show up for them consistently.
This cause is very close to our hearts, as the Approved Provider of Believe Early Education has been a Pyjama Angel for the past 10 years.
When they first began their journey together, the little girl was just 4 years old. She is now 14, and over the years, they have shared many special moments together – building confidence, working through school homework, navigating life experiences, and creating plenty of happy memories along the way.
It is a beautiful reminder of the difference that one caring adult, one story, and one hour a week can make in a child’s life.
Our Story Wall
As part of our Pyjama Day, families are invited to make a gold coin donation to help “Sponsor a Story.” Each child has the opportunity to add their favourite book or story to our special Story Wall display.
This activity helps the children feel part of the fundraising in a simple and meaningful way. As the wall grows, it will become a lovely visual reminder of how every small contribution can help create something bigger.
The idea behind the Story Wall is to celebrate the gift of stories, imagination, and learning. Books play such an important role in childhood, and through this activity, children can connect their own favourite stories with the idea of helping other children access support and learning opportunities too.
Raising Funds and Having Fun
Families are encouraged to bring along a gold coin donation, with all funds going directly to The Pyjama Foundation. There is also a raffle basket with some amazing prizes to be won, giving families another fun way to get involved and support the cause.
Every donation, big or small, helps to contribute to mentoring programs that give children the opportunity to dream, learn, and thrive.
We are so excited to see so many children, families, and educators taking part. From colourful pyjamas to favourite bedtime stories, the day will be filled with kindness, community spirit, and so much fun!
Learning About Kindness and Community
Events like Pyjama Day are a wonderful way for children to begin learning about kindness, empathy, and helping others. Even at a young age, children can understand that small actions – like wearing pyjamas, bringing a gold coin, or adding a book to a wall – can help make a difference for someone else.
These moments help children feel connected to their community and show them the importance of caring for others.
We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
